Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas is an open-world action game developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games for PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Xbox, Xbox 360, PC, and iOS and Android mobile devices. One of the most legendary video games in history, an open-world adventure set in the early 90s in the fictional state of San Andreas, following the story of Carl "CJ" Johnson, who returns to his home in Los Santos and is dragged into a life of gangs and crime.
After surprising everyone with Grand Theft Auto III (2001), the spectacular leap of the saga into three dimensions, and its sequel Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (2002), which took us to a brilliant recreation of Miami in the 80s, Rockstar Games brought us Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. This game raised the bar for the saga once again, being a more ambitious and spectacular open-world action adventure than ever, taking place on a massive map that mimics the life and culture of the early 90s in the fictional state of San Andreas, based on real areas of California and Nevada.
The story stars Carl "CJ" Johnson, who returns home to Los Santos after his mother's murder and is quickly dragged back into a life of gangs, crime, and corruption. Players explore a vast open world, one of the largest in video games at the time, where we visit the three main cities of the state of San Andreas: Los Santos, San Fierro, and Las Venturas, which parody Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Las Vegas. With third-person gameplay featuring the series' usual ingredients, like shootouts, car chases, and plenty of humor and parody, GTA San Andreas introduces several new mechanics to the series, such as character skills that can be upgraded, like weapon handling, driving, and lung capacity.
For the first time, we can modify CJ's physical appearance with clothes, hairstyles, and tattoos, and affect his physical condition through exercise or overeating fast food. The repertoire of available vehicles is also expanded, and the ability to swim and climb is introduced. In addition to the spectacular main missions that advance the story, there are also countless activities and side missions, such as illegal street races, driving schools, working as an ambulance driver, police officer, or firefighter, playing pool and bowling, gambling in casinos, competing in triathlons, fighting rival gangs, searching for graffiti tags, horseshoes, and oysters, going on dates with different characters, burglarizing houses, and even purchasing properties.
