For close-range encounters, you’ll want to carry deadly weapons such as submachine guns or shotguns, and possibly even melee weapons. With that in mind, here are our recommendations:
When it comes to SMGs, we recommend the MP40, as it has the highest rate of fire in the game and is also very stable. The only drawback is that magazines are the only attachments you can equip on it.
Alternatively, you might like the idea of carrying two Vectors, one in each hand. Otherwise, the MP5 is an extremely reliable choice in this category and a firm favorite among players.
When it comes to shotguns, you should definitely carry the M1887 or the M1014 in your inventory. The M1887 is the better choice if possible, as it can also deal armor-piercing damage. Both shotguns are excellent and will tear through anyone who gets within a few steps of you.
For your melee weapon slot, you should always try to carry a Katana or a Machete, as they’re easily the best melee weapons in Free Fire. The Machete is especially useful because it can help protect you from anything an enemy throws your way. Failing that, the Pan is also a solid choice.
At mid-range, you’ll want to have assault rifles, light machine guns, and perhaps a handgun in your inventory. The Desert Eagle, for example, can be deadly if your aim is good enough.
If you’re just starting out, the M4A1 and SCAR are your best friends. They’re reliable, fairly stable, versatile, and easy to use. Even once you’ve gained plenty of experience, they’re still fantastic weapons.
The FAMAS and the AK are also excellent, high-damage rifles, although they take more skill to handle—especially the AK, which has considerable recoil. Adding attachments such as foregrips can make them even deadlier.
Overall, however, the GROZA could be considered the best rifle in the entire game. It’s extremely powerful and offers excellent range, a good rate of fire, solid movement speed, and much more. The only downside is that it’s difficult to find, as it only appears in supply crates. Don’t pass it up if you spot one!
Choosing between the Gatling and the M249 mostly comes down to personal preference. Either one will give you incredible firepower and suppression when you come across groups of enemies or simply need to let loose. The M249 may be easier to handle, but if you want more bullets than you know what to do with, grab the Gatling and its enormous magazine.
For long-range combat, you’ll naturally want to consider sniper rifles. However, plenty of assault rifles can also be effective at this distance when fitted with a good scope, including the AUG and the Woodpecker.
The AWM sniper rifle is a favorite thanks to its high damage, accuracy, and range. If you’re comfortable with its rate of fire and reload time, it’s an excellent choice. For something a little more balanced, the KAR98K is an ideal option for long-range combat.
Some players also enjoy using the SVD Dragunov, an automatic rifle that can only be found in airdrops and supply crates. However, if you want a higher rate of fire, the semi-automatic SKS is another great option.
Finally, if you want a sniper rifle that can make short work of distant vehicles, pick up the M82. Its shots can penetrate armor and vehicle plating with devastating results.
