In a game like Roblox, which is packed with thousands of games hosted on the platform’s servers, it is normal to run into an error message every now and then warning you that something has gone wrong.
These are known as error codes. There are quite a few of them, and in most cases, they have a fairly quick and easy fix.
Roblox error codes are pop-up messages that may appear when launching the client app or while using it.
They can happen for many different reasons and on any platform.
Remember that if your game takes too long to load or will not open, you should probably check your internet connection to make sure it is stable. Restarting your router or your gaming device is also recommended.
Chances are you have run into one of these errors and are wondering what to do next. Do not worry: in this section of our guide, we have put together the Roblox error codes and explain what fix you can try so you can get back to playing as soon as possible.

Error 6
There is a problem with your internet connection. Your connection may have dropped, or your antivirus may be blocking Roblox.
Check your internet connection and make sure it is stable and working properly.
If the problem continues, check whether your antivirus is blocking Roblox as a threat.
Error 17
Check whether the website is being blocked and try accessing it again later.
Error 103
Due to your privacy settings, check whether the profile you are using is set up for a child, teenager or adult.
Error 142
The server you are trying to connect to is not available right now. Try connecting to another one.
Error 146
Could not connect to the game. You are trying to access a place that is currently inactive.
Error 148
Could not connect to the game. Your current version of Roblox is outdated, so you need to update it or reinstall it.
Error 256 and 274
The developer has shut down all game servers, or the game server has closed for another reason.
You simply need to wait for the server developer to enable the server again. It is also possible that you have been banned from that server, in which case you can only wait for the ban to be lifted.
Error 260 and 261
This error happens when the server you are trying to connect to is having issues or is not working properly. Wait for it to be fixed, or check your internet connection in case the problem is on your end.
Error 262
The server you are trying to connect to cannot load. Make sure your internet connection is stable and try again later.
Error 264
The same account launched the game from a different device. In other words, you have opened two different clients with the same account.
To fix this, simply close one of the two clients you have opened.
Error 266
The connection timed out. Check your internet connection and try again.
Error 267
There was a problem loading the game, or you were kicked from the session. Try joining again in a few minutes.
Error 268
The server kicked you out. You have been removed because of unexpected client behavior.
This can happen, for example, if Roblox has a conflict with an exploit program you have installed. The fix would be to uninstall any programs causing that conflict.
Error 271
This error can commonly happen because the server has run out of active players, or for no clear reason. Try joining again.
Error 272
Connection lost due to an error. This may be because Roblox has detected an exploit that you need to close.
Error 273
You have been disconnected from the game. This may happen because you received a warning, tried to open the same account from another device, were banned, or your internet connection is unstable.
Error 274 and 275
Server issues, or the server has been temporarily closed for maintenance. Try again later.
Error 278
You have been disconnected from the server for being inactive for 20 minutes. You can rejoin at any time.
Error 279
There are three different versions of this error depending on the ID that appears:
ID = 17: connection attempt failed. This may be due to website blocks or downtime. It also usually happens when a player tries to join a server before fully disconnecting from the previous one.
ID = 146: could not connect to the game. This appears when the client tries to connect to a place that is inactive.
ID = 148: your Roblox version is outdated. You need to update it or reinstall it.
Error 280
Your current version of Roblox is outdated. Update Roblox and try again.
Error 400
You entered a Roblox website URL that does not exist. You need to enter a valid URL.
Error 403
This appears when trying to access a restricted area of the website. You simply cannot access that place.
Error 404
This may happen for the same reason as error 400, or because your country has blocked access to a Roblox webpage.
Error 500
Server issues, or the server has been temporarily closed for maintenance. Try again later.
Error 504
Roblox is temporarily under maintenance, or your internet connection is unstable. Check your internet connection and try again later.
Error 517
This game is currently unavailable. Try again later.
Error 522
The user you are trying to join has left the game.
Error 523
This error may happen because the game you are trying to join has been closed or access to it is restricted. Try again later or join another game.
Error 524
You are not authorized to access this game, or you do not have permission.
Error 529
Roblox is experiencing technical issues. Just wait for them to be fixed.
Error 589
You have been disconnected from the game because of a problem. Check your internet connection and try again. If the problem continues, wait a few hours or try reinstalling the game.
Error 610
You cannot join the game. This may be because you are trying to join a VIP game, you have lost your internet connection, or you are trying to join another player and an unexpected error has occurred.
Error 769
Teleport failed due to an unexpected error. Reconnection was not successful. Try again.
Error 770
This error appears when trying to connect to a game that is no longer active or does not exist.
Error 771
This error appears when trying to connect to a game or server that is no longer active.
Error 772
This error appears when trying to connect to a game that is full.
Error 773
This error appears when trying to connect to a game that has not yet been approved, is restricted, or has suffered an error.
