The characters in Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls have a wide range of moves that they can use in battle. Most of them can be practised in the Tutorial, but there are several shared special moves that may require some additional explanation. Here, we explain how to perform a Crossover, Crossover Reflect, and Perfect Reflect.
A Crossover is a defensive counterattack. When performed, the character currently defending—who must be blocking enemy attacks—causes the reserve characters to rush the attacker, breaking their combo and creating an opportunity to counterattack.
To perform one, you must obviously have reserve characters available, as it cannot be used in situations where you do not yet have access to them. You must also have at least one segment of the green gauges beneath your character's health bar filled.
If both requirements are met, you can perform a Crossover by blocking and pressing Square + Cross while continuing to block, or the equivalent controls if you are playing with a keyboard on PC. When performed successfully, the word CROSSOVER briefly appears in large letters in the centre of the screen. One of your reserve characters will then attack your opponent and break their combo.
A Crossover Reflect is a counter to the Crossover counterattack. It is exactly what it sounds like: a move that neutralises the defender's Crossover. To perform one, you must use your own Crossover when the CROSSOVER notification appears after your defending opponent activates theirs. If timed correctly, their counterattack will be cancelled and you can continue your combo.
A Perfect Reflect is an improved version of the Crossover Reflect. It is performed in the same way, but with one key difference: you must activate your Reflect when your character flashes as the opponent performs a Crossover. Oddly enough, although the timing window lasts only a fraction of a second, in our experience it seems to trigger more frequently than you might expect. If timed correctly, you will perform a Perfect Reflect.
In addition to neutralising your opponent's Crossover, a Perfect Reflect will leave them in the "Disassembled" state. For several seconds, they will be unable to use their reserve characters.
