The story of GTA VI revolves around two main characters: Lucia Caminos and Jason Duval.
Lucia is a tough woman who grew up on the streets of Liberty City. From an early age, and thanks to what her father taught her, she learned how to defend herself against any threat. However, a series of unspecified circumstances—to avoid any kind of spoiler—only referred to as "protecting her family", landed her in a Leonida state prison. A lucky break will allow her to secure an early release that could give her the chance to start over... although what she does with that opportunity will be entirely up to her.
Jason, meanwhile, is a guy who can only be described as someone who has had bad luck and made poor choices. After getting into trouble as a teenager, he joined the army. Things didn't turn out as he had hoped, however, and instead of straightening himself out, he ended up becoming one of the trusted enforcers of a veteran drug runner. He now spends his life following orders and taking part in all kinds of crimes, including smuggling and drug trafficking. He doesn't seem to have much of a choice, especially since even his house belongs to his boss—a man who wouldn't have survived this long without ruling with an iron fist and plenty of firepower.
Fate brings Lucia and Jason together, and they fall in love. Now, like Bonnie and Clyde, they'll try to find a way to leave this life behind and finally enjoy some peace and quiet. Although it looks like that peace will only come after a storm of bullets.
Grand Theft Auto 6 takes place in the present day, sometime between 2020 and 2030. We know that Lucia was sent to prison "in the mid-2020s" and will be released before serving her full sentence, giving us the game's approximate time period. As for where it takes place, this will be especially exciting for fans: we're returning to Vice City, the city that gave its name to one of the series' previous installments.
Around 30 years have passed since the events of GTA Vice City, but this fictional version of Miami is still a lively place. A lively place full of crime, chaos, strange people doing even stranger things, alligators, drug dealers, gangs... However, it's worth remembering that the action will take us far beyond the city: Vice City is only one of several cities in the state of Leonida, which is inspired by real-world Florida. This means the map will also take us to places such as the Leonida Keys, an archipelago, Mariana County and Ambrosia.
