Halo: Campaign Evolved takes us back to Master Chief's legendary first adventure 25 years later, now with breathtaking graphics and some exciting new features. Whether you played the original back in 2001 or, especially, if you're new to the franchise, you'll probably want to know how many missions this remake includes in total. In this section of our guide, we'll list them all so you know what to expect in terms of content and length. Don't forget that we also have dedicated sections covering the game's collectibles, which will help you find the Skulls and Terminals hidden in each level.
The core experience of Halo: Campaign Evolved lies in its classic campaign. This remake gives us the chance to enjoy the following 10 iconic main missions once again:
These are the same missions we first played back in the day in the original 2001 Halo, although the remake introduces changes to some of the environments to modernize the gameplay, as well as new weapons and other improvements...
Halo: Campaign Evolved features an additional campaign containing bonus missions. This shorter extra campaign includes the following 3 missions in total:
The bonus campaign serves as a prequel, taking place one year before the events of the game's classic storyline. It puts you in the role of Master Chief alongside Sergeant Major Avery Johnson on a dangerous mission in which the pair must infiltrate a Covenant research vessel and steal valuable navigation data.
The bonus missions are available right from the start, so you don't need to complete the original campaign first. You're free to begin with this extra campaign or experience its new content at any other time.
Halo: Campaign Evolved also introduces a new additional game mode: the Remix Campaign. Once you've collected your first three Skulls of any type, you'll unlock this mode in the game's menu.
Missions in the Remix Campaign change and are always different, as various Skulls you've discovered are activated to modify the gameplay experience. This means you can play all 13 missions—the 10 classic missions and the 3 bonus missions—in surprising and entertaining new ways. You can challenge yourself with a random selection of Skulls or manually adjust the selection to customize each mission however you like.
The Remix Campaign also lets you activate two visual modifiers with unique aesthetics, giving missions a completely different look by covering them in dense, hazy fog or applying a night-vision effect.
Bear in mind that the Adaptation, Reload and Armistice Skulls are always enabled by default when playing Remix mode.
