Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate lets you end a match with a Fatality, Stage Fatality, Friendship or Brutality. Brutalities activate with the final hit before FINISH HIM!/FINISH HER!, while the other three use an input after the prompt appears. Mercy revives the defeated opponent, and Quitality happens automatically when an online player quits.
All 37 playable fighters have two regular Fatalities, one Friendship, one Stage Fatality command and several character-specific Brutalities. Mercy uses the same command with every fighter, while Quitality requires no input.
| Mechanic | When it happens | How it is activated | Ends the match? | Complete guide |

| Brutality | With the final hit, before the finishing prompt. | Win with the required attack while meeting every listed condition. | Yes | Brutality guide |
| Friendship | After FINISH HIM!/FINISH HER! | Enter the fighter-specific input from Mid range. | Yes | All Friendship inputs |
| Stage Fatality | After FINISH HIM!/FINISH HER! | Enter the fighter-specific input from Close range on a compatible stage. | Yes | All Stage Fatality inputs |
| Mercy | During FINISH HIM!/FINISH HER! | Use the universal Mercy command from Mid range. | No: it resumes the fight | Mercy controls |
| Quitality | When an opponent quits an online match. | It happens automatically and has no input. | Yes | How Quitality works |
Fatalities are Mortal Kombat’s signature finishing moves. Each of the 37 playable fighters in MK11 Ultimate has two regular Fatalities, giving the complete roster a total of 74.
To perform one, win the round that decides the match and wait for FINISH HIM! or FINISH HER! to appear. Move to the required distance and enter the complete input before the finishing window expires.
Fatality ranges are shown as:
Fatalities do not need to be unlocked before they can be performed. A fighter’s second Fatality may initially be hidden in the Move List, but the correct input will still work. Successfully performing it reveals the recipe in the game.
Easy Fatality Tokens provide an optional simplified command, but they are not required. Regular Fatality inputs can always be performed without consuming a token.

Brutalities do not use the FINISH HIM!/FINISH HER! window. Instead, the required attack must remove the opponent’s final point of health while every condition listed for that Brutality is active.
Conditions may require you to:
If FINISH HIM!/FINISH HER! appears, the Brutality has failed and it is too late to enter it as a separate sequence.
Most character-specific Brutalities must be unlocked before they can activate. The universal exception is The Klassic, which is available from the beginning for every fighter. To trigger it, do not block an attack during the final round, finish with an uppercut using Down + Back Punch and hold Back Punch while the attack connects.
Do not confuse a Stage Brutality with a Stage Fatality. Stage Brutalities use arena interactions as the final hit during the active fight and may have additional conditions. They still follow normal Brutality timing.
See how to perform, unlock and troubleshoot MK11 Brutalities.
Friendships are humorous, non-violent alternatives to Fatalities. Instead of killing the defeated opponent, the winning fighter performs a character-specific celebration, joke or friendly gesture.
Every playable fighter has one Friendship. To perform it:
Friendships are already available in the Move List and do not need to be unlocked. In a Kompetitive Match, you must also complete the final round without using Block. This additional restriction does not apply outside Kompetitive Matches.
Friendships were introduced through the free update released alongside Aftermath on May 26, 2020. You do not need to purchase the Aftermath expansion, although you must own a DLC fighter to use that fighter and perform their Friendship.

Stage Fatalities use the surrounding arena to kill the defeated opponent. Like regular Fatalities, they are performed after winning the match while FINISH HIM!/FINISH HER! is displayed.
MK11 Ultimate supports Stage Fatalities in only these three arenas:
Every fighter has a unique Stage Fatality input. That same character-specific input works on all three compatible stages and must always be entered from Close range. Stage Fatality commands appear under Pause > Move List > Finishers and do not need to be unlocked.
The update released alongside Aftermath also added arenas such as Soul Chamber, RetroKade and Kronika’s Keep, but those stages do not support Stage Fatalities. Their inclusion in the same update does not make them compatible.
Stage Fatalities were part of the free May 26, 2020 update for all MK11 owners. Purchasing the Aftermath story expansion is not required.

Mercy is not technically a finisher because it does not end the match. Instead, it restores approximately one-fifth of the defeated opponent’s health and allows the fight to continue. The mechanic originally appeared in Mortal Kombat 3 and returned in MK11.
To perform a Mercy, stand at Mid range, approximately one jump away, during FINISH HIM!/FINISH HER!
Then:
The command is universal and works with every fighter. The same player cannot grant another Mercy after defeating that opponent again in the resumed fight. The other player can still perform their own Mercy if they later win the deciding round.
Once Mercy succeeds, the opponent can fight normally and may even come back to win. If you defeat them again, you can activate a Brutality with the required final hit or wait for a new finishing prompt and perform a Fatality, Friendship or compatible Stage Fatality.

Quitality is an automatic online result that occurs when the game registers that a player has abandoned a match before it has been resolved. The remaining player does not enter a command, choose a distance or select Quitality from a menu.
Depending on the animation, the quitting player’s fighter may explode in a burst of blood or be impaled on a large stone spike. The Quitality message then appears and the match is awarded to the player who remained.
A Quitality cannot be deliberately activated by the winning player. It is also not guaranteed for every network interruption, since unrelated connection failures or synchronization errors may be handled differently by the game.
MK11 Ultimate includes Fatalities, Stage Fatalities, Friendships and Brutalities. Mercy is a related mechanic that revives the opponent, while Quitality automatically resolves an online match when a player quits.
Fatal Blows, Krushing Blows and End of Round Taunts are combat mechanics or presentation elements, not separate types of finisher.
During the finishing window, you can perform a regular Fatality, a Friendship, a Stage Fatality on a compatible arena or a Mercy. You can also hit the opponent normally or allow the timer to expire.
You cannot enter a Brutality at this point because it must be triggered by the final hit before the prompt. Quitality is also unavailable as a selectable option because it only happens automatically online.
Regular Fatalities can be performed as soon as you know the correct input, even when the second recipe is still hidden. Most Brutalities must be unlocked before they can activate, with The Klassic available from the beginning as the universal exception.
The prompt normally appears only after winning the round that decides a standard match. It will not appear after an ordinary non-decisive round. It is also skipped when a Brutality activates immediately or when an online match is resolved through Quitality.
Yes. Mercy resumes the fight instead of ending it. If you defeat the opponent again, you can trigger a Brutality with the final hit or perform a Fatality, Friendship or Stage Fatality when the finishing prompt returns.
No. Quitality is controlled by the game and occurs only when an online opponent’s departure is registered as a quit. The remaining player has no Quitality input.
No. Babalities and Animalities are not available in Mortal Kombat 11. Friendships are its main non-lethal alternative to Fatalities.
