Mortal Kombat 11 Roster: All 37 Characters and DLC Fighters

Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate has 37 playable characters. The complete roster consists of 24 fighters from the base game, Shao Kahn, six characters from Kombat Pack 1, three from the Aftermath Expansion and three from Kombat Pack 2.

The line-up includes returning Mortal Kombat fighters, the three newcomers introduced in MK11 and five guest characters from other franchises. The tables below explain which pack includes every fighter, how each character is obtained and where to find their Fatalities and Friendship.

How many characters are in Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate?

The final Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate roster contains 37 playable fighters. This is how they are divided:

Base roster: 24 playable fighters

The base game includes 24 playable characters. Twenty-three are available from the beginning, while Frost is added to the character-selection screen after completing Chapter 4 of Story Mode.

Shao Kahn: bonus DLC fighter

Shao Kahn was originally offered as a pre-order bonus and was not part of Kombat Pack 1. He is included with Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate and is also available as a separate add-on for owners of other editions.

Kombat Pack 1: six playable fighters

Kombat Pack 1 adds six characters: three returning Mortal Kombat fighters and three guests. All six are included with Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate.

DLC fighters are included in the pack shown below and in Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate. Depending on the platform and storefront, they may also be sold separately as individual character add-ons.

Aftermath: three playable fighters

The Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath Expansion adds a new story campaign and three playable fighters: Fujin, Sheeva and guest character RoboCop. All three are also included with Ultimate.

DLC fighters are included in the pack shown below and in Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate. Depending on the platform and storefront, they may also be sold separately as individual character add-ons.

Kombat Pack 2: three playable fighters

Kombat Pack 2 completes the roster with Mileena, Rain and guest fighter Rambo. These are the final three characters included in Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate.

DLC fighters are included in the pack shown below and in Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate. Depending on the platform and storefront, they may also be sold separately as individual character add-ons.

New characters introduced in Mortal Kombat 11

Only three members of the playable roster made their series debut in Mortal Kombat 11:

• Cetrion: an Elder God who uses nature, elemental forces and long-range attacks.
• Geras: Kronika's immortal construct, with powers based on sand and the manipulation of time.
• Kollector: a six-armed Naknadan who fights using weapons, relics and items collected in service to Shao Kahn.

Frost is not an MK11 newcomer. She first appeared in Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance, although MK11 substantially redesigns her as a cybernetic fighter.

All guest characters in Mortal Kombat 11

Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate includes five guest fighters from outside the Mortal Kombat series:

• Terminator T-800, from the Terminator franchise.
• The Joker, from DC.
• Spawn, from the comic-book series created by Todd McFarlane.
• RoboCop, from the RoboCop franchise.
• Rambo, from the Rambo film series.

Terminator T-800, The Joker and Spawn belong to Kombat Pack 1, RoboCop is part of Aftermath and Rambo is included in Kombat Pack 2.

Non-playable characters and bosses

Several characters appear as opponents or story characters without occupying a slot on the playable roster:

• Kronika: the main antagonist and final boss of the original Story Mode. She cannot be selected as a playable fighter.
• Cyrax: appears as an opponent during Story Mode but is not playable.
• Sektor: appears as an opponent during Story Mode but is not playable.

Story variants, alternate costumes and transformed versions of existing fighters do not count as separate roster members.

How to unlock every Mortal Kombat 11 character

There is only one regular base-game fighter who must be unlocked through gameplay:

• Frost: complete Chapter 4, Fire & Ice, in Part 1 of Story Mode. You can choose either Sub-Zero or Scorpion during the chapter. Read our complete Frost unlock guide for more details.

The remaining 23 base fighters are available without completing any unlock challenge. Shao Kahn and the characters from Kombat Pack 1, Aftermath and Kombat Pack 2 require ownership of the corresponding add-on or Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate.

DLC fighters cannot be permanently unlocked through the Krypt, Towers of Time or Story Mode. Installing the free Ultimate update also does not automatically grant paid character packs to owners of the original base game.
