Learn the combat system

Mortal Kombat 11 rewards patience, spacing and knowing when it is safe to attack. New players should begin with our beginner combat guide, which explains the fundamental controls and the mechanics that separate MK11 from other fighting games.

You will learn how to use Special Moves and Amplify, manage the automatically recharging Offensive and Defensive Gauges, escape throws, recognize Kounters and Punishes, and make the most of Krushing Blows and Fatal Blows. Practice Mode is the best place to test inputs, timing and Kustom Variations before entering online matches.

Fatalities, Friendships and every type of finisher

Finishers are one of the defining features of Mortal Kombat 11, but they do not all work in the same way. Fatalities, Friendships and Stage Fatalities are performed after winning the final round, while Brutalities must meet specific conditions and end the fight with the required attack. A Quitality is triggered automatically when an opponent leaves an online match.

Every Fatality for all 37 fighters

Our complete Fatality list includes both Fatalities for every fighter in Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate, together with the required distance and platform-specific buttons. You can perform a Fatality even if its input has not yet been revealed in the Move List.

Stage Fatalities for all 37 fighters

Stage Fatalities use the arena itself to finish the defeated opponent. Our complete MK11 Stage Fatality guide includes each fighter's unique command, universal notation, platform-specific controls and the three compatible arenas: Dead Pool, Shaolin Trap Dungeon and Tournament.

Friendships, Brutalities and Mercy

If you prefer a less violent ending, consult the complete Friendship list. You can also learn how Brutalities work or use a Mercy to revive your defeated opponent with a small amount of health.

Complete roster and DLC fighters

Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate features 37 playable characters: 24 fighters from the original base roster, Shao Kahn, six fighters from Kombat Pack 1, three from Aftermath and three from Kombat Pack 2. The line-up includes returning Mortal Kombat favourites and guest fighters such as Terminator T-800, The Joker, Spawn, RoboCop and Rambo.

Visit the complete MK11 roster to see how every fighter is obtained. Frost is the only base-roster character who is initially locked: complete Chapter 4, Fire & Ice, in Story Mode to unlock her for free, or use the optional instant-access add-on where available. Either Sub-Zero or Scorpion can be used, as explained in our Frost unlock guide.

Time Krystals and the Premium Shop

Time Krystals are MK11's optional premium currency. They can be earned through gameplay or purchased with real money and spent on selected items in the rotating Premium Shop, including cosmetics, Brutalities and Easy Fatality Tokens. They are not required to complete Story Mode, unlock Frost or gain a competitive gameplay advantage.

Our Time Krystals and Premium Shop guide explains how to obtain them, what the shop can offer and how they differ from Koins, Soul Fragments and Hearts.
