This guide contains all 90 documented button combinations for the 2005 original Xbox release of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, covering money, health and armor, weapons, wanted levels, vehicles, CJ's stats, pedestrians, traffic, time and weather.
This is not the 2014 Xbox 360 HD port or the 2021 Definitive Edition. Those releases use different controller labels and do not have exactly the same cheat compatibility. As Rockstar explains, Xbox One launches the updated Xbox 360 port even when the player owns the original Xbox disc or digital release; original saves do not transfer.
Original Xbox controller legend: L and R mean the left and right triggers. White and Black are the two small face buttons on the Duke or Controller S; they are not references to the colors of the A, B, X or Y buttons.
If you are running the actual 2005 Xbox game through the Xbox 360's original-Xbox backwards-compatibility system, press LT for L, RT for R, LB for White and RB for Black. This conversion does not apply to the separate 2014 Xbox 360 port.

Enter a combination during normal gameplay, without pausing. Press the buttons in order and reasonably quickly. Use the D-pad for Up, Down, Left and Right, not the analog stick. A Cheat Activated message should appear when the game recognizes the sequence.
Save warning: Create a separate clean save before experimenting and do not overwrite it after using cheats. Rockstar warns that codes can cause graphical anomalies, scripting errors and corrupted saves. Pedestrian, riot, gang, traffic and world-state cheats are particularly risky because they can disrupt missions or persist after saving. Reload the clean save or restart the game to restore normal behavior reliably.
The 2005 original Xbox release has no achievements or Gamerscore, so there are no achievements for cheats to disable. This is different from later Xbox releases.

These are 90 distinct documented button combinations representing 89 effects in the 2005 original Xbox release. Cloudy Weather has two valid inputs. The compatibility table below keeps unverified variants, duplicate labels and codes from other versions out of that total.
Many old lists mix real codes with invented combinations, internal effects that have no known button sequence and genuine combinations carrying the wrong label. The entries below preserve those commonly searched claims while making their status clear.

Tags, Oysters, Horseshoes and Snapshots are required for 100% completion. The maps and corrected reward lists below cover all four collectible sets, followed by the Import and Export vehicle map.
After Tagging Up Turf, use a Spray Can to paint over all 100 rival-gang Tags around Los Santos.
Oysters are underwater collectibles found across rivers, lakes, pools and coastal waters throughout San Andreas.
All 50 Horseshoes are located in Las Venturas. Each one pays $100 and adds 20 points to the hidden Luck stat, up to 1,000.
San Fierro contains 50 Snapshot targets. Aim a Camera at the marker and take a photo when the icon appears in the viewfinder.
Complete Customs Fast Track to unlock Import and Export at the Easter Basin docks in San Fierro. Each of the three lists contains ten vehicles. Deliver the requested vehicle to the ship with the dockside crane; the better its condition, the higher the export payment. Delivered models later become available to import on specific days.

Several side missions provide permanent upgrades without using cheat codes. Level-based emergency missions must be completed in a single uninterrupted run, while Taxi Driver and Burglary progress is cumulative.

The Import and Export activity is unlocked by completing Customs Fast Track. Export payments depend on vehicle condition, and delivered models can later be purchased from the board on specific days.
These are not conventional unlockables. They are special mission variants that must be taken to a garage before the relevant opportunity disappears. Create a separate save before attempting to collect them.

The following section distinguishes repeatable game mechanics from timing-sensitive glitches and longstanding community interpretations. Reported glitches can vary with the game state, so test them only on a disposable save.
Park the vehicles close to a save garage. Drive the first one halfway through the doorway and get out, leaving it in the door's path so the garage stays open. Drive the next vehicle fully inside, then return to the first and move it completely into the garage. Step away and allow the door to close before saving.
Warning: every vehicle must physically fit. Garages normally remember no more than four vehicle entries, and overcrowding can make one disappear. Reopen the garage and check its contents before overwriting an important save.
Save the game while another gang is attacking one of CJ's territories and the attack should be cancelled. Use a separate slot if you are experimenting, so you do not overwrite your clean progress.
Only the 9mm Pistol, Micro SMG, Tec-9 and Sawn-Off Shotgun can be dual-wielded. Raise the relevant weapon class to Hitman skill and CJ will hold one of the selected model in each hand. The Silenced 9mm, Desert Eagle and SMG cannot be dual-wielded.
Use a Jetpack to reach the highest part of Gant Bridge. A sign hidden there reads: There are no Easter Eggs up here. Go away.
Aim at the moon through a Sniper Rifle scope and shoot it. Each hit cycles the moon through several sizes.
From the passage beside the Las Venturas gym, look toward the building across the street and pedestrians can sometimes be seen walking or falling from the roof. Fans commonly interpret this as a nod to Lemmings, which was created by DMA Design before the studio became Rockstar North, although the game never confirms that interpretation.
Leave CJ inactive and he may sing or hum fragments of songs heard on the radio. The behavior is real, but the claim that he always chooses the songs the player has heard most often is not established.
Some special and imported vehicles use custom plates instead of random text. Examples include OUR FERGIE, DI5CO5TU and EA SUCKS.
Leave CJ completely still for roughly two or three minutes. The HUD disappears and the idle camera begins showing nearby street activity such as pedestrians, conversations, fights or chases. Move a control to return to normal play.
A Los Santos mural includes the words Jesus Saves
. This references GTA 2, where churches marked with the same phrase were used to save the game; it is not the save system from the original Grand Theft Auto.
Classic-version guides describe a timing glitch: select a paint job, press A and then press Y immediately. If the timing works on the Xbox build, CJ exits with the livery applied but without being charged. This applies to liveries at Loco Low Co. and Wheel Arch Angels, not to colors, parts or repairs; the result is not reliable enough to use on an important save.
The original Xbox release retains local two-player Free Roam and Rampage activities with a shared camera. Connect a second controller, enter a two-player pickup and give Player 2 a Katana. If Player 2 decapitates CJ and the session then returns to single-player, CJ can remain headless with the visual blood effect still active. Press Back to lock the two-player camera to one character; reload the game to restore CJ's normal model.
Older guides claim that arriving in a Sadler with a Grove Street Families passenger adds the companion's weight to CJ's and bypasses Barbara's preference. This method is not reliable enough to recommend. The dependable options are to meet her body-stat preference or collect all 50 Oysters, which removes optional girlfriends' physical requirements.
During a Mount Chiliad cycling race, use the wooden ramp near the start to perform a difficult stunt before the event repositions CJ. The game can still award an Insane Stunt Bonus. The payout depends on the stunt, so this is neither guaranteed quick money nor an infinite-money exploit.
Equip Night Vision Goggles and use an arcade machine. When CJ leaves the machine, the green visual filter can disappear while the goggle model remains on his head. The same cosmetic glitch can also occur with Thermal Vision Goggles.
From a boat in deep water, throw a Satchel Charge into the sea and detonate it. On some attempts, the splash effect continues indefinitely and looks like a small fountain. This is an intermittent visual glitch, so it may not trigger every time.
Ride a bicycle onto a stopped train without dismounting. When the train starts moving and the bicycle begins to slide, hold A to pedal. The fast-spinning wheels can increase Cycling Skill even though the bicycle stays on the train. CJ and the bicycle can briefly disappear because of the glitch; get off the train if the setup becomes unstable.
This state-transfer trick is well known from some PS2 revisions, but it has not been reproduced consistently on the 2005 Xbox build. Do not treat it as an Xbox unlockable. Start a new game after a full restart if you want to prevent any loaded-save state from carrying over.
Some PlayStation 2 lists claim that failing Photo Opportunity can leave the Camera with unlimited film. This has not been sufficiently verified on the original Xbox and should not be presented as a reliable Xbox method.

Mount a Mountain Bike, hold X to reverse and rapidly tap A at the same time. CJ's model can stretch, shrink and appear to melt into the ground. This is a visual animation glitch and gives no stat or gameplay advantage.
Press Y to pick up a basketball. While CJ is holding it, press B to spin it or X to roll it around his shoulders. Click the right thumbstick at the court beside the Johnson House to begin the Basketball Challenge after it has been unlocked.
