This guide covers every cheat code for the original PSP and PlayStation 2 versions of Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories. The main cheats use the same sequences on both systems: press L and R on PSP wherever the PS2 version uses L1 and R1. The four multiplayer unlock codes at the end of the page are exclusive to PSP because the PS2 port does not include multiplayer.
Warning: Create a separate save before using cheats and do not overwrite it afterwards. Some effects cannot be safely disabled and may interfere with missions or 100% completion, especially the pedestrian riot, pedestrian attack, and follow cheats.
Enter the button combinations during normal gameplay without pausing or opening a menu. Use the D-pad for Up, Down, Left, and Right, and press the sequence fairly quickly. A confirmation message appears when most codes are entered correctly.
In the tables below, L and R are the two shoulder buttons on PSP. On a PS2 controller, use L1 and R1 instead. None of these combinations uses L2 or R2.
The following 39 cheat effects are available in both versions. The two upside-down modes each have a separate restoration sequence, so the tables contain 41 single-player button combinations. PSP also has four exclusive multiplayer unlock codes, for 45 combinations in total.

These four combinations unlock additional gangs and character models for the PSP version's ad hoc multiplayer modes. They do not work on PS2 because that version has no multiplayer mode.
