The Nail will be your main weapon from the beginning of the adventure right through to the end. Fortunately, you can upgrade it to increase its damage by visiting the Nailsmith, who can be found in the lower-left section of the City of Tears. Naturally, these upgrades are not free, and you will need to bring him the materials and Geo he requests to increase your attack power.
Below, you will find every Nail listed in unlock order, from the most basic to the most powerful, along with the materials and Geo required to forge each one.
As you can see from the list above, you will need a total of six Pale Ore to upgrade your Nail to its final form. There are exactly six pieces available in the game, so you will need to collect every one of them if you want to unleash your weapon's full power.
To help you with this task, below we reveal the locations of every piece of this precious ore.
To the left of the Tram Station in the Ancient Basin, you will find two Lesser Mawleks guarding a treasure. Defeat them and collect the Pale Ore.
This piece is embedded in the pedestal of the Radiance statue at Hallownest's Crown. To reach this area, you must climb to the top of Crystal Peak, so you will need the Monarch Wings and Mantis Claw.
Break through the wall in the room to the left of the Hot Spring in Deepnest.
Rescue 31 Grubs and visit the Grubfather, who will reward your efforts with a piece of Pale Ore.
The Seer will give you this piece after you collect 300 Essence.
Complete the Trial of the Conqueror at the Colosseum of Fools, which can be found at the top of the northwestern section of Kingdom's Edge.
